Mental & Physical Health Resources

Have you found yourself stuck in a downward spiral? I did too… It sucks. But, taking care of my mind and body has helped! That’s why I put together this list of mental & physical health resources.

At the end of the day, the most important thing is to identify (and take) the steps that help you keep your mind and body as healthy as possible. Each person is different so focus on what works for you.

Physical Health Resources

Take a Walk

Try to get at least 30 minutes outside. It’s a great way to get some sunlight (if the weather cooperates). Plus you’re getting great big breaths of fresh air. Just remember to stay at least 6 feet away from other walkers.

Try Some Yoga
  • Down Dog App is currently offering free yoga until May 1st. Plus, they have other options like HIIT and Barre.
  • Youtube has a lot of free yoga practices. This link will take you to several practices from my favorite instructor: Shiva Rea.
Experiment with a Different Type of Workout Each Day
  • Class Pass offers a 30-day free trial for new members. They have several online classes you can try.
  • Planet Fitness is streaming free workouts at 7 PM EST from their Facebook page. (Can’t make that time? Check out their youtube channel.)
  • Jazzercise on Demand is offering 60 days free with the code 60DAYSFREE when you sign up.
  • Need something high intensity?
    • Orange Theory is uploading new workouts every day. Typically their workouts don’t need special equipment.
    • The Simple & Sinister Kettlebell workout was recommended by my brother. A little research showed me that for this one you should have a solid understanding of some key moves.
Mental Health Resources
Therapy
  • Better Help is resource I’ve heard a lot about. There is a monthly fee tied to their services; however, you can apply for a discounted rate depending on your income status.
  • Dr Colin Smith specializes in treating anxiety and depression. He provides an online option for his patients.
  • Rezl is currently giving away 2000 free licenses to use of their app which uses Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy to reduce stress and anxiety.
Tips, Tricks, & Useful Info
  • Virus Anxiety is a website filled with articles to address concerns, Q&A with mental health experts, and meditation practices.
  • Dr Hisam Goueli (a family medicine doctor and a psychiatrist) has been creating a youtube video every day or so with ways you can manage stress. They have all been short and super useful.
  • Try meditation with one of these options:
    • Meditation Helper is the one that I use. It’s a simple interface that will ring a set number of bells to start (and/or) end your meditation practice. You can also set up preparation time to get yourself into the position you want to meditate in after you start the app. There is a paid version… but, the free version has worked just fine for me.
    • Insight Timer has quite a few guided meditations if you would prefer that route.
Managing Addictions

FYI… I haven’t used these resources myself; but, I’ve seen them recommend online. Ultimately, it’s probably best to chat with your sponsor since they are most likely to have more insight into this than I do.

I’ll keep updating this page as I find more mental & physical health resources.

In the meantime, is there another resource you’ve been using that you love? Join our community and share it!

PS I’m not getting paid to promote any of these links.
